On 2 September 2013, McAfee announced a strategic partnership with SDS to ensure the continued development of E-Business Server as an industry-standard encryption technology. SDS has now assumed full responsibility for support, maintenance, enhancement, and development of the software.

In addition to E-Business Server, SDS offers more than 20 z/OS, z/VSE, and z/VM mainframe system products, including VitalSigns for FTP^™, a product that automates enterprise-wide enforcement of security standards, and the VFTP-SSH Collaboration that provides SSH encryption for data in transit through networks.

How it Works:

SDS E-Business Server^® is powered by PGP encryption, an infrastructure that protects and authenticates data in transit with an unbreakable sequence of keys and signatures.

STEP 1: The data recipient must send a signed certificate containing a public key to the sender in order to access the data.

STEP 2: The data sender authenticates the certificate and public key, then encrypts the data with that public key and encrypts a hash and signature with the sender’s private key.

STEP 3: The data recipient decrypts the data with the recipient’s private key, and decrypts the hash and signature with the sender’s public key.

Finally, the recipient authenticates the data by generating a hash and matching it to the hash packaged with the signature.
